The VRHS is located in Marble, NC, and serves Cherokee, Clay, and Graham counties in Western NC. We offer a comparable salary for full and part-time employment.
Cleans clinic, intake rooms, and any rooms housing medical cases (eg: those requiring quarantine; newborn pups and nursing moms).
Performs all duties for animal intake: including blood draws and obtaining fecal samples .
Performs all testing that we perform onsite, like IDEXX and microscopic examination of fecal samples.
Administers all vaccines, medications, and preventatives for all animals in shelter.
Maintains all records (paper & digital) on all animals as required by State regulations.
Conducts monthly inventory count of all clinic supplies and preventatives to be submitted to Clinic Manager.
Investigates any medical concerns brought to the Clinic by other staff members.n
Registered Vet Technician (RVT) with shelter experience preferred, but not required. Vet Tech training available.
Performs all duties of Clinic Staff as needed.
Trains and oversees all clinic staff.
Coordinates with Kennel and Cat managers to identify animals to be spayed and neutered; and schedules accordingly.
Coordinates with Kennel and Cat managers to identify animals requiring veterinary care and schedules accordingly.
Ensures that all animal medical records are current and maintained as required by State and Federal regulations.
Ensures security and accurate documentation for all Scheduled Drugs in accordance with State and Federal regulations.
Ensures security and accurate documentation for all prescribed medications in accordance with State and Federal regulations.
Responsible for monthly inventory of all supplies used in the clinic submitting PO to the office manager to order supplies.
Provides supporting documentation for all medical license renewals: State, Federal, and Vet of Record to the Shelter Manager in a timely manner to ensure no laps.
Reports to Kennel Manager. Must be a dog lover!
Maintain the facility and kennels in a clean and sanitary condition including complete
disinfection of every kennel daily following proper protocols for disease/infection
control.
Spot clean indoor and outdoor kennels throughout the day.
Provide the dogs with food and water following approved feeding protocols, making special note of dogs on specialized diets.
Maintain a daily check on the health and behavior of each dog and report any issues immediately to the Kennel Manager or if Kennel Manager is unavailable to the Clinic Manager.
Groom dogs, to include bathing, trimming, cutting nails, and removing mats/burrs from coat.
Socialize dogs in a manner consistent with their temperament and ability. Strive to build confidence, social skills, and friendly demeanor in all dogs both with other dogs and people.
Assess the temperament of each dog to facilitate finding the best possible placement for each dog.
Provide a safe, healthy, clean, and pleasant environment and facility for both the dogs and the public.
Greet visitors and direct them to the appropriate departments or individuals
Answer telephones and respond to inquiries via telephone or email
Book meetings; appointments; take messages and minutes during meetings
Perform administrative tasks, including filing and photocopying
Write emails
Manage database entry and client files
Order and maintain supplies
Document financial information/transactions
Organize and distribute messages
Help Office Manager to keep Front Desk clean and orderly
Greet volunteers and demonstrate how to sign in and out
Maintain confidential department files/records
Perform routine office-related tasks
Assist with presentations and reports
